Regulatory Affairs – From Burden to Benefit

Monday 16 March 2015

Operators can implement strategies to shift regulatory compliance from burden to advantage.

Telecom operators must comply to the laws, regulations and guidelines of the regulator. Although the regulator's objective is to ensure a fair telecom environment, the operator's primary objective is to drive performance, and this objective does not always seem compatible with compliance to regulatory requirements.

The challenge is complex: the operator must ensure “performance” and “compliance” and at the same time.

Operators can implement strategies to shift regulatory compliance from burden to advantage. These strategies focus on the integration and standardization of compliance into the global business strategy and into a standard process. With a standardized process, integrated regulatory compliance can help bring significant benefits such as risk mitigation, improvement of the relationship between an operator and a regulator, integration of technological developments, and the agility to respond and go beyond customers' expectations.
