FUNDING ICT FOR DEVELOPMENT (ICT4D) PROJECTS

Description

A 5-day Training Program to provide participants with techniques and methods to plan and finance Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) projects. The participants will learn about trends in the ICT marketplace, as well as trends in business development, investment and financing with a focus on the developing world. The Program will introduce participants to the particularities and risks of ICT projects that require special consideration and will discuss Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) as well as other approaches and sources of financing for ICT4D projects.

Objectives

  • Provide participants with an understanding of the value, costs and benefits of ICT4D projects
  • Provide participants with an overview of the particularities of ICT projects and of ICT4D projects, and of the impact of these particularities on decisions about funding
  • Provide participants with an understanding of the sources of financing, both locally and internationally, for ICT4D projects
  • Introduce participants to various funding modalities for ICT4D projects
  • Introduce participants to the specificities and risks of ICT4D projects
  • Enhance the capacity of participants to fund e-government projects by looking at alternative funding mechanisms
  • Enhance the understanding of participants of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) as possible sources of financing for ICT4D projects
  • Encourage participants to think creatively about funding ICT4D projects
